CEREC AND BELLA TEK ABUTMENTS

After the joint press release from Sirona and Biomet 3I, I wanted to give you an idea of how this partnership can benefit you. The present workflow at first seems like it is more work but rest assured that this is not the final version of the workflow.

Here is a case that I am sure you have all dealt with. Implants were not done guided and the final position could have been better. The patient walked into the office with Bella Tek Encode healing abutments in place. It was just a matter of a quick scan with the Omnicam and very little chair time is used. You can see that the camera picks up all the details of the encode abutment including the writing on the side.

You can clearly with this picture of an implant level impression how angled the #12 implant is, I will tell you that to adjust this pick up took five times longer than it took me to do the simple scan of the abutments.

I did an implant level impression since the workflow right now requires an implant level impression or a secondary intra oral scan after the abutments have been placed.

Once the scan was done in Cerec Connect we can transfer the virtual model to Biomet via the Connect portal. In a few short days your custom abutment is returned. You can select Full Titanium, Titanium with gold color Nitride, or full Zirconia. This case Titanium was selected.
To complete the restoration of this patient Emax crown were fabricated.

The new partnership of Sirona and Biomet is very exciting. The digital solution has great promise and this initial workflow can deliver abutments with proper emergence and are Cerec friendly. Definitely something to look into for those looking for other option for custom abutments.
