Change your Point of View Think Local - View Global

Recently we have had some great Blogs from Drs. Rich Rosenblatt and David Juliani dealing with Model Axis. They gave tips and tricks and explanations of why it works, why it is a benefit.

I find one of the big benefits, especially with the larger anterior Biogeneric Individual cases, is the addition to the View Options. In the past we were locked into Mesial, Distal, Buccal, Lingual, Occlusal and Cervical; all based on the insertion axis of the restoration we had active. These are known as the local options. They made for a quick change of your perspective. You just had to keep in the back of your mind what you wanted to see. To see the buccal profile selecting mesial may be better than selecting buccal. Since the perspective changed on the tooth selected there wasn’t a consistent view point. Switch from 6 to 11 and there was a significant change in the model position, even a smaller switch from 8 to 9 had a big impact of what one was able to view.

After you have gone through the steps to correct your model in Model Axis, you now have a new set of positions on View Options, the Global Commands. These are based on the whole arch, not the individual tooth you have selected. Top, Right, Backside, Front, Left, and Bottom. You select one of these options and the software snaps the virtual model back to the same position time after time no matter what tooth you are designing. It is a very nice feature when you are improving someone’s smile with Biogeneric Individual proposals.

Thanks,This is a cool feature for design demonstrations.
