Schick 33 Digital X-Rays
Schick 33 digital x-rays are unbelievable. Â I was reading the blog Jeff Caso did a few weeks ago about the extraoral bitewing function of the XG3D. Â I too like this option when I can't take the conventional digital bitewing, but nothing beats a really nice bitewing, especially with the new Schick 33 Sensors. Â I remodeled my office recently and decided to upgrade the computers and technology too. Â I have been a Schick CDR user for many years. Â They were a great way to educate the patient and I was able to read the films, but it did make borderline interproximal lesions difficult to read. Â The longer I used them, the more I was able to decipher what I saw but it was a bit of a learning curve. Â I purchased the Schick 33 sensors and really love them! Â I can not believe the difference in image quality. Â I often get asked about other digital technology and digital x-rays are a common inquiry. Â I wanted to share this simple case to demonstrate the incredible difference between the older CDR technology and the new Schick 33 technology. Â
This is a case of a patient who was in my office last May.  He had multiple interproximal carious lesions.  I found some lesions but due to the limitations of the technology back then, it was hard to be sure on a few areas in question.  Here is what the original CDR bite wing looked like.   The patient did not return until November and I had just received my new sensors.  I took the same BW with the new sensors and this is what I saw below.   I was blown away by the difference.  Between the Schick 33 sensors and the XG3D cone beam, I have never felt more confident when discussing caries and other things I have found using this new technology!!  ÂVery nice Rich. I am super jealous!! We upgraded all of our ops to the elite wireless when we built our new office which was completed just before C 27.5. Guess what was released at 27.5...... yep, the Schick 33. Bummed wasn't the only word I can use to describe my disappointment in the fact that the 33 isn't wireless yet. I don't want to go back to the cords so I'm in limbo atm with the elite sensors. Nice post though... not a difficult choice to upgrade to this sensor.

Rob, I really love them. I don't mind the wires cause I don't know any other way. Never had wireless sensors. Quality of image is just fantastic
I cannot wait to get my new 33's! For years, I thought there was a problem with my monitor settings! I have been so frustrated to have to tell my patient in a middle of a procedure that I saw decay visually that wasn't apparent on the radiograph and "I need to do more fillings than I thought".
