Assistants To Take Final Impressions
North Carolina has approved the use of assistants to take the "final impression" for patients when using a CEREC. This opens up a tremendous amount of possibilities which frees up the dentist to do even more and be more productive as the team can be helpful in doing the imaging portion of the procedure.
The Omnicam makes this even easier as the learning curve for assistants is minimal. Check with your local state to see if you can have your assistants legally image.
Yes this blew me away. So now the dentist in NC gives anesthesia and preps the tooth and places the final crown.
Well this is a very interesting development. But try (please!) to think a little further, what is the logical next step.
You as dentist, dear Sameer, will not be needed either in the future, especially in implant cases. And the signs are on the wall.
In Austria the dental labs tried to get the legal permission to treat the patient in the dental lab, without the dentist. They want to make impressions without dentist. They almost succeeded. And in implant cases, where the dentist still makes money, there is no preparation needed, ergo no dentist necessary.
Sirona does not care to whom they sell the scanner, but you as dentist will be without job, at minimum you will have less income. Is this what you want for your colleagues ???
